new shoes

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

Okay, so here I am, looking for new shoes.

It’s not all that hard- I have problems with my feet.

The problem is, I walk.  A lot.  I wore the last pair smooth.  In six months.

And my foot is a non-standard shape.  So I’m pretty much stuck with one brand.  Not a cheap one, either.  So I went to the ASICS Homepage to try to identify the shoes I saw on sale in the shop.

Lo and behold, a dizzying combination appeared. This is information overload.  I just need a pair of shoes!

Worse yet, all of the Flash imagery crashed my laptop!  It’s not enough I’m working on funky wireless connections in cafes, no…

Living Dangerously

So now I’m a blogger. Ho-hum.

Not so fast.

This article here is kind of scary.

Yes, there are laws designed to keep the powerful protected, even at the expense of the public which they are sworn to protect. In Malaysia today, the government has arrested a blogger who published information embarrassing to the current regime under the authority of an anti-sedition law. In this case, it was the Internal Security Act.

Malaysia has one, the US has many, peruse the Executive Orders here (and read the various flavors of the PATRIOT ACT), Russia has always had them; they exist in many countries in the so-called ‘developed world’.

So, read between the lines.

Think.

It may keep you out of jail. And alive.
